Cape May to Nags Head

Tuesday, July 13, 2010: Cape May to Nags Head
We got an early start out of Wildwood and headed to Cape May.  Our first stop: breakfast.
How about some famous pancakes at Uncle Bill's overlooking Stone Harbor.  Yum-Yum.  With some new found energy we did a brief ride around Cape May before catching the ferry on over to Lewes, DE.  We simply played this part of our trip by ear, stopping in Lewes, Rehobeth, Ocean City, and a good deal of time in Chincoteaque (Linda loved the ponies).  We decided to catch some dinner at a local seafood house and while there heard some interesting tales from two drunkin sailers (actually one was a professional chef).  I decided on the seafood buffet (bad idea) as the food was excellent.  You know the rest of the story (eyes bigger than the tummy).  It was still pretty early, so we decided to head towards NC and see just how far we could get before the sun set.  The trip across the Chesapeake Bay/Bridge was perfect as the sun was just beginning to set.  Traffic on the VA side quickly reminded me why I wanted to get through the Norfolk/Tidewater area as quickly as possible.  With the temps beginning to fall, the ride with the top down heading out of the Tidewater area was awesome.  We stopped for some petro as we neared Elizebeth City.  Up till this time the Barracuda had been flawless and trouble free.  But as we attempted to start the car at the gas station the ole Chrysler Starter began making some odd sounds and wasn't catching the flywheel.  Anyone who's listened to the ole MoPar starters can instantly tell their listening to an old Chrysler product.  The starter finally caught and with a full tank of gas we knew we needed to reach a populated business area.  So it was all the way to Nags Head/Manteo before we could call it a night.
The rest of the story will continue on the next page of the trip.  In the mean time, enjoy the pics:
